Q: Why did I receive A COBRA Letter?
A: There are a few reasons you've received a Cobra Notification. Most commonly you will receive the following letters:
Initial Notification: Upon enrollment into our group plan you will receive this letter. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of your rights and responsibilities as a plan participant.
Qualifying Event: At the end of your employment or because of reduction of hours (not maintain full-time status) you will receive this letter. It is VERY important that you review this letter and make your decision if you will need to continue your coverage through COBRA. If you are interested you have a number of deadlines for electing coverage as well as, making your payment(s).

Q: When will I receive my Qualifying Event letter?
A: Your Qualifying Event letter will be mailed to your last known address. This address will be your temporary address (if applicable) unless otherwise requested. Your letter will be processed within 14-21 days after your last day of work. (TOP)

Q: What does COBRA do?
A: COBRA provides certain former employees, retirees, spouses, former spouses, and dependent children the right to temporary continuation of health coverage at group rates. This coverage, however, is only available when coverage is lost due to certain specific events. Group health coverage for COBRA participants is usually more expensive than health coverage for active employees, since usually the employer pays a part of the premium for active employees while COBRA participants generally pay the entire premium themselves. Q: If I elect COBRA what will my coverage be?
A: If you elect Cobra coverage your coverage will be exactly what you had prior to your qualifying event. You will maintain your same group and ID numbers for plans elected. (TOP)

Q: If I elect COBRA when will it begin?
A: Your coverage will begin at 12:01am the day following your last day of employment. (TOP)
